26 Feb OUT OF DARKNESS
My friend took me to a rooftop to a gathering of people on one of my first nights in India. Different women took turns singing on a microphone in a language,of course, I didn’t understand. The speakers were loud and people on different rooftops began to come out and listen to the music followed by the preaching. Remember, this is a land where most are Hindu and others Muslim. In the very province where I am staying right now, just a few weeks ago the Hindu burnt alive a young girl because she had attended a Christian prayer meeting. I have recently been in Pakistan where the chance of being martyred for your Christian faith is so high that I had to hire armed security. It was actually in that country that I was delivered from the fear of dying as a Martyr. That’s another story in itself.
I am here now in southern India in a predominately Hindu and then Muslim territory where they don’t value human life at all. If you are not one of them, then you are the enemy. I just happened to notice that I’m six feet tall, the only white person I’ve seen, and I’m proclaiming the only true religion, only true God in the earth. Here I am now with no seen security, armed only with faith in God, knowing that the God of the angel armies is my strong tower, refuge and buckler.
At one of our meetings, a man came up the stairs and a couple of women tried to make him leave. I asked what the problem was and they said he is drunk. I ask him if he wanted to stay to hear my message? He answered yes so I sat him beside my interpreter. While I am preaching some men come up the stairs and tried to make him leave. I tell them to leave him alone. He wasn’t bothering anyone.I just remembered God coming into my darkness many times revealing himself to me when I was drunk and high living such a sinful life. I had faith for God to save him and set him free.
After preaching I turned to him and asked him if he wanted to accept Jesus and he quickly said yes. I prayed with him to become Born Again and for his addiction to be broken. I gave an altar call and many turned their hearts towards the Lord. The Lord healed many on top of that roof that night. I was asked to go with him to his families house ad bless their home. I did and I enjoyed it so much.
I found out later that the men who had come up the stairs were Hindu and wanted him to leave because he also was Hindu. They were very mad and came to our house the next day and asked why we had invited him and made him stay. My interpreter informed them he had come on his own and no one made him stay. I guess the devil knows I’m in town. As Dr. T.L. Osborn used to say, “poor devil, he doesn’t stand a chance against Jesus.”
Tonight we do another rooftop church and then go into slums and back villages. They are even scheduling very late night meetings in villages and they have been told to bring the demon possessed and tormented. They have scheduled them late so people who are afraid to come won’t be seen by the Hindu and Muslim.
Did I mention to you that I love my job! To God always be the glory! The laborers are few. Please pray to the Lord of the harvest that He will send workers. So many are deceived and following wrong voices and teachings. There are so many poor and defeated in life by false religions which control and use people. You’ll be hearing from me soon. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. Together we can win souls for Christ.
